While I did NOT know about Don Mossi's prowess in fielding a ball, this is NOT at all surprising that ole' Don holds a record for best fielding percentage for a pitcher.He had TWO big advantages over anyone else--in addition to a glove & a bare hand, Don was known to save many a game and prevent base hits up the middle by flagging them down w/ his ears!
One of his greatest plays was a line drive, caught w/ the right ear, flipped into the glove, transferred to the left hand and casually tossed to 1st for an out!!
