God has given Jesus the name that is above every name. Now "highly exalted" denotes an exaltation to the highest position-an elevation above all others. The context conveys humiliation that results in honor. Jesus' obedience to death is followed by a super exalted position of honor and glory-and that's a pattern that we should follow.
Philippians 2:9 tells us: "Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name..."
You know a lot of times people do good deeds but it's not out of their heart, it's because they want to be seen; it's because they want to be exalted. They want people to put them on a pedestal because of what they do and how much they have. But Jesus is our greatest example of humility; that if we humble ourselves, God Himself will exalt us. It says, "Therefore God has highly exalted Him..." God exalted Jesus and gave Him the name which is above every name. There is power in the name of Jesus.
Let's read Acts 3:1-16:
Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. And a certain man lame from his mother's womb [Now we know that this man's condition was not of God.] was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple; who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms.
And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, "Look at us." So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. Then Peter said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk." And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up [keep in mind that this is a lame man], and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them; walking, leaping, and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God. Then they knew that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
Now as the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch which is called Solomon's, greatly amazed. So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: "Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? "The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go.
"But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses. And His name [Jesus], through faith in His name [Jesus], has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord, you are now a Christian and you have a right to use the name of Jesus. There must be some power in the name because Romans 10:13 says, "All who call on the name will be saved." The only way to get saved is by His name. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and God has raised Him from the dead and believe in your heart, you will be saved. There is power in the name.
Not by the name of Fred Price, not by the name of Benny Hinn, thank God for the men of God who are obedient to the Holy Spirit, but is not by their names. Listen, there are so many religions and belief systems on this earth, yet, it's interesting that God didn't say, by the name of Mohammed. He did not say by the name of Buddha or Confucius. God said by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth whom you crucified and God raised from the dead by Him, this man stands here before you whole.
There is power in the name of Jesus!
